Senior Associates

Duties:  

Responsible for the development of an investment thesis for deals and completion of the related transaction models, internal deal memos and other required analytic materials. Display critical thinking as it relates to competitive landscape, reason to exist and whether the Fund should ultimately buy the business. Make sure that the diligence being performed directly relates to the investment thesis. Assist in the management of the associates when staffed with an associate (including quality of their work product) and third party environmental, accounting, insurance, benefits, industry and customer due diligence providers; Develop relationships with commercial banks, financial institutions and sale leaseback providers. Negotiate term sheets and assist in the negotiation of final lending, purchasing and leasing agreements; Participate on weekly update calls and work with senior deal team members to establish reporting metrics in close coordination with Monomoy operators. Audit reports and challenge management regarding calculations, etc. as needed. Work with company management on the value creation plan and in some instances directly assist in creating that value whether its union negotiations or customer price increases; Establish relationships with a number of investment banks and restructuring professionals in an effort to pursue deal flow; Assist in the screening of incoming deal flow for Monomoy characteristics; Expected to work with other associates and senior associates as a team in promoting best practices and balancing work load; Assist in the training of associates (modeling, concepts of asset based finance, etc.); Suggest and Execute ad hoc portfolio wide projects focused on reporting and other financial activities; Assist in the completion of quarterly reporting to MCP limited partners for individual portfolio companies; Represent Monomoy at conferences and marketing events; Interact with investors and prospective investors as required to provide insight into the Monomoy culture and the progress of the portfolio companies.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Engineering; 2 years experience: vetting private equity or distressed companies for purchase; developing, testing, and tailoring excel operating and asset based finance models; and identifying distressed businesses, developing plans to structure them, and executing plans. Experience: hiring, managing, and interpreting information from 3rd party consultants; managing sell-side consultants; working with management teams of portfolio companies; and working with banks on structuring lending facilities to middle market companies. Demonstrated ability to: communicate analysis and recommendations to senior members of deal team; and communicate with industry experts & effectively gather information about industry risks & attributes for assimilation into analysis. Demonstrated track record of working pro-actively individually. Alternatively, will accept a Master's + 1 year experience in lieu of a BA + 2 years experience. 25% primarily domestic travel, but may include international.
