Stephen Presser, Partner

Stephen Presser is the senior partner of Monomoy, which mainly means that he's the oldest guy here. He'll be the first to tell you he loves his work, both for its daily challenges and for the unique opportunities to learn, to grow and to make businesses better. Before founding Monomoy in 2005, Stephen was a principal at KPS Special Situations Fund and on the boards of several of their portfolio companies. As a lifelong turnaround professional, Stephen has represented large stakeholders in some of the biggest restructurings in North America, and he writes and lectures extensively on distressed investing and business restructuring. Stephen holds an A.B. from Brown University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He is a recovering lawyer, but he has completed a 12-step program and takes it one day at a time. Stephen lives for Diane, Michael and Lizzie, the greatest family in the history of the world.

Daniel Collin, Partner

Daniel Collin does not believe in luck. He thinks you make your own, through hard work and preparation. Dan brings that drive — and a keen competitive streak — to Monomoy every day. He's skilled at working with our portfolio company managers to shape their businesses, taking them from the brink of failure to levels of success they thought unobtainable. Dan has more than 9 years of direct experience in turnaround investing and business improvement. Before founding Monomoy in 2005, he worked at KPS Special Situation Funds and was an investment banker at JP Morgan Chase, focusing on industrial companies and restructurings. He holds a B.S.M. from Tulane University.

Justin Hillenbrand, Partner

Justin Hillenbrand has a good eye for both the modern art he collects and the companies he fixes. He lives to guide businesses from dysfunctional to efficient, and he's had plenty of experience doing just that as a partner at Monomoy. Don't be fooled by his easy smile. Justin has more than 9 years of direct experience in turnaround investing and is a true restructuring pro. Prior to founding Monomoy, he was with KPS Special Situation Funds and worked as a senior analyst at Prudential Capital Group, providing mezzanine debt to middle-market manufacturers. He holds a B.S. from Boston College. In his spare time, Justin adds stamps to his passport on a quest to visit every country in the world with his wife and new daughter.

David Kreilein, Operating Partner

David Kreilein is all about focus and perseverance. From his experience in the distressed business, he knows that perseverance is what allows companies to succeed in the face of adversity. David brings persistence, financial acumen and strategic skills to his role at Monomoy, providing intensive operational and financial support to all of Monomoy's portfolio companies. For over 15 years, he has restructured public and private companies ranging in size from $50 million to over $3.5 billion in revenues. Prior to joining Monomoy, David held numerous C level positions and joined Sun Capital Partners as an operating vice president, where he was responsible for over 20 portfolio companies. At Monomoy, David has helped to create a world class cash management and financial reporting system for all of our portfolio companies. David graduated from Indiana University with a B.S in accounting and spends more time on airplanes than 99.9% of people on the planet.

John Stewart, Operating Partner

John Stewart loves to save jobs and eliminate waste, something he does every day as a Monomoy operating partner providing management support to our portfolio companies. Prior to joining Monomoy, John worked for 18 years in operating, management and executive positions for Toyota Motor Corp., most recently as general manager for Toyota United Kingdom, Toyota's largest European operation. He has extensive experience in restructuring and improving troubled business units within Toyota through the Toyota Production System. At Monomoy, John manages an extensive network of operating professionals throughout the portfolio and supervises business improvement projects at every one of our companies. He holds a B.S. from the University of Phoenix and is a certified expert in the Toyota Production System. Like many on our team, John spends his free time with his family and counts his four children as his most significant achievement.

Scot Duncan, Operating Director

Scot Duncan has the analytical and problem-solving skills of an engineer and the team-building skills of a business leader. As an operating director at Monomoy, he uses all of those skills — and then some — to drive operational improvement in our portfolio companies. Prior to joining Monomoy, Scot worked for 12 years in engineering, maintenance, and production management at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, most recently as plant manager of Toyota's famous assembly plant in Georgetown, Kentucky. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering and an M.S. in manufacturing systems engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is a certified expert in the Toyota Production System, the just-in-time production approach that made Toyota famous for efficiency and quality. Scot treasures time at home with his wife and 10-year-old twins where comic relief is provided by the family dogs, a lab and a Jack Russell terrier.

Nathan Richey, Vice President

Nathan Richey thrives on the challenge of sourcing, analyzing and executing Monomoy's complicated middle-market acquisitions. He joined us from Houlihan Lokey and the workout group of J.P. Morgan. Nathan holds a B.S. from Elmhurst College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. During his free time, Nathan enjoys hanging out with his wife and two boys and training for triathlons. Through his work with the Boston Apparel Group, he now knows more about women's clothing than he ever thought possible.

Loren Roseman, Vice President

Loren Roseman joined Monomoy in 2005 from turnaround firm Alvarez & Marsal, the nationwide restructuring firm, and the corporate restructuring group at Arthur Andersen. He has over 10 years of direct restructuring and turnaround experience and is involved in everything at Monomoy from sourcing acquisitions to deal execution and strategic oversight of our portfolio companies. Loren holds a B.S.B.A from The University of Arizona's Eller College of Management, and was Ricky Williams' quarterback in high school (really). Loren is our token California transplant.

Mayank Singh, Vice President

Mayank Singh has a particular talent for buying and fixing underperforming companies after several years at Brera Capital Partners and Sun Capital Partners. He is a devoted follower of Lost and martial arts films. Mayank holds a B.S. from Colgate and an M.B.A. from NYU. He may be the hardest working guy in private equity, and his work on our Anchor Hocking investment will one day make him famous.

Nate Bard, Senior Associate

Nate Bard is a Senior Associate at Monomoy Capital Partners. He joined Monomoy from Houlihan Lokey’s restructuring group (where he worked with Monomoy Vice President Nate Richey). Nate holds a B.S. in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame. Nate spends his free time musing about politics and making refinements to his wardrobe. He dreams of becoming the best golfer in the office. Everyone needs a dream.

Monomoy Production System Team

John Poff (l.), Steve Pallotta (c.) and James Ward (r.) work directly with senior management teams on site at Compass Automotive, Fortis Plastics and Anchor Hocking to drive business improvement at our largest portfolio companies. John, Steve and Jamie are experts in the Monomoy Production System and they are an important part of the senior management teams at their companies. The trio also helps design and run our quarterly Monomoy "boot camps" that teach the tools of lean manufacturing to portfolio company employees. John and Jamie joined the Monomoy portfolio after long careers at the Toyota Motor Co. and years of immersion in the Toyota Way. Steve was a managing director at DeWolf, Boberg & Associates before joining the Monomoy family.
